January 15

 Today is National Army Day

A day to pay tribute to the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the country.

Following the departure of the British from India, on January 15, 1949, the country celebrates Army Day, the historic day when Kodandra Madappa Kariyappa  took office.

One of the first steps taken by the then PM Jawaharlal Nehru after seizing power from the British was to strengthen the Indian army.

The Indian Army is the unit in charge of  all ground operations.  Currently with a great strength of 25 lakhs, the Indian Army is the second largest in the world.  The main functions of the Army are to protect the border, to maintain peace and security in the country, to work against terrorism and to carry out emergency relief operations.

Compulsory military service does not exist in India as in some other countries.

The Indian Army is divided into regular divisions such as Regular Army, Regular Army Reserve, Territorial Army and NCC.

Pt. Nehru took immediate and strong action on a war footing, despite the presumption that other powers would try to destroy India before it could be stabilized.  January 15 is celebrated every year as Army Day, the anniversary of one such event

Pt Jawaharlal Nehru appointed a Commander-in-Chief to strengthen the Indian Army just after independence

On January 15, 1949, General Kodandra Madappa Kariyappa  was appointed the first Chief of Army Staff of India.  To commemorate this, January 15 is celebrated as Army Day every year.

On this day, the brave soldiers are honored at Delhi darbar and the show of strength is held in the presence of the President and the Prime Minister.

The Indian Army is the protector our smiles, the actual heroes that defend the borders, so that we get to stay peacefully.

If the country remains secular and secure, it is not only because of the democratic regime but also because of the military force that aims only at patriotism and security There is no religion or politics bigger than the nation.

Nationalism is the military force that has adopted the mission of civil society through its own lives as the gloomy shield of the world's largest democracy. Warriors who are ready in time for the safety of Mother India in any difficult situation, whether the battles are inside or outside.

The real guardians of  freedom and liberalism we enjoy today. No matter how high the country is, real heroes are our real strong heroes who are reluctant to say what many blame !!

"Indian Army"

Every year we celebrate Army Day to pay tribute to the warriors.  It was on this day in 1949 that the formal handing over of the army took place.

Paying tribute to all the army personnel who fight wars to ensure the freedom of the country.  Happy Army Day !!
