The Gaganyan Mission is India's first attempt to launch a man into space by 2023
Earlier, former ISRO chief K Sivan had said that the Air Force would be tasked with training the passengers.
Most of the training is given in India itself. Assistance from some foreign countries is also available for training.
It took 12 to 14 months to select the passengers. It have been a critical activity. IAM Commandant Anupam Agarwal said.
The Institute of Aerospace Medicine (IAM) was tasked with selecting the passengers. In the first phase, 30 people were selected. Of these, 15 were re-elected.
Of these, 3 will be sent into space after completing their training.
ISRO is poised to launch Gaganyan ahead of the 75th anniversary of the independence : former director K. Shiva had informed.
The three-member team will be flown to the Low Earth Orbit at an altitude of 400 km above the Earth.
The astronauts' spacecraft, which will stay in space for three to seven days, will be returned to sea.
The spacecraft will be launched after two unmanned missions.
The GSLV Mark III will be used for the launch.
According to reports, the Indian astronauts will fly 300 to 400 km in space for the seven - day mission. The government will spend approximately Rs 10,000 crore for this.
In addition to being attractive for space exploration, the project also has a wide range of applications in the development of technology for human welfare.
With the recent development of science and technology, space exploration is a natural advancement of our planet
The Indian Space Agency has unveiled a robot that will travel into space as part of its unmanned space mission this year.
A semi-humanoid robot called 'Vom Mitra' or a friend in the sky can identify astronauts.
The astronauts can interact with them directly and answer their questions.
In addition, the Vikas engine, a key part of the Gaganyan mission, has recently been successfully tested.
The engine was "hot tested" for 240 seconds. This is the longest experiment.
The hot test was conducted at the Space Agency's Propulsion Center in Mahendragiri, Tamil Nadu.
By 2023, the Gaganyan mission, which aims to carry Indian astronauts into space in low orbit (LEO), will be the first indigenously developed human mission by ISRO.
