No one has seen Buppi Lahiri except with several gold chains around his neck.  Bapi loved gold so much.  From layered chains to bracelets and rings, gold jewelry was an integral part of his identity.

Bappi believed that gold was his fortune and that the reason for his success was gold jewelry.  He said in an interview that he got his first blockbuster after being gifted a gold chain with a locket with a picture of Hare Rama Hare Krishna.

The disco singer had said that many of his gold chains had God's pendants and that wearing those gold necklaces was tantamount to carrying God with him.

'' I have seven gold chains.  Ganesha has made a huge difference in my life.  I am a great follower of Siddhivinayak and Raja Lalbaghcha.  He asked me in a dream to wear Ganesha on my chest.

Soon, I was inducted into the Guinness Book of World Records for my musical achievements.  Three years ago my daughter Rima presented me with a huge gold chain with a Saraswati locket on my birthday.

I carry some gold jewelry with me wherever I travel.  My jewelry is very heavy and I can't carry it all with me abroad.  I have never weighed my gold jewelery, ”said Buppi Lahiri.
