*π With a motive to eliminate the cruel practice of female circumcision, International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) is being observed across the world on 6th February every year by WHO

The practice is recognised internationally as a violation of the human rights, the health and the integrity of girls and women. In 2012, the UN General Assembly designated February 6 as the International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation, with the aim to amplify efforts on the elimination of this practice. United Nations strives for its full eradication by 2030.

• More than 200 million girls and women alive today have undergone FGM in 30 countries in Africa, the Middle East and Asia.
• The practice has no health benefits for girls and women. It involves removing and damaging healthy and normal female genital tissue, and interferes with the natural functions of girls' and women's bodies.
• FGM can cause severe bleeding and problems urinating, and later cysts, as well as complications in childbirth and increased risk of newborn deaths
• FGM is mostly carried out on young girls between infancy and age 15.

Pradeep is best known for his patriotic song "Aaye Mere Vatan Ke Logo" written in memory of the soldiers who died in the Indo-China war. The song was sung by Lata Mangeshkar, the star of India, in the presence of the then Prime Minister Nehru at the Ramlila Maidan in Delhi on Republic Day 1963. Nehru's eyes filled with tears when he heard this song that day. A tape of the song was presented to him on the stage
