National Voters Day message
National Voters' Day is celebrated across India today.
What is the significance of Voters' Day?
The Election Commission of India was established on January 25, 1950
But, this day has been observed since 2011.
National Voters' Day has a special significance in the national and state election process in India.
It is the duty of each and every one of us to vote in all kinds of elections and to ensure greater populous participation for a strong and sustainable democracy!
Here are some of the things we can do now to combat voter oppression and electoral subversion.
One
As we prepare for general election in 2024, those in the field of art and literature should highlight films, stages, democratic challenges and adverse conditions.
Such organization's work should begin immediately. Every neutral voter must take on this responsibility.
Be sure to attend meetings to express your anger and be ready to organize against the re-election of those who are legally or illegally disqualified.
Two:
The Department of Justice should declare that it will use all the tools in its constitutional and legal arsenal - to create the conditions for the implementation of voting rights, including the Civil Rights Act and amendments to the Constitution of India.
Voting rights are not the only weapon used to protect the right to vote. Funds should be increased for the activities of the Justice Department and the Civil Law Department.
Three
Ballot paper voting should be reorganized
Voting machines are banned in some of the world's largest democracies.
Importantly, whatever processes are in place should be used for easy voting
Four
There is now a need to prevent institutions and states from politicizing election boards and to strengthen penalties against intimidation of voters and election officials.
Five
There should be a call from the government to help citizens add to the voter list and vote with the use of Aadhaar card.
Six
There should be legislation to keep government employees completely out of politics, and states should be encouraged to declare holidays for government employees on election day.
Seven
Every effort should be made to prevent the oppression and subversion of voters. Organize and mobilize neutral anti-corruption activists.
Eight
Enquiries through government-appointed tribunals and commissions are crucial in demonstrating impartial legitimacy.
Nine
Each and every one of us will be a hero on the crucial issue of defending our democracy - for which we, the civil service students of India , would like to thank and support.
The vote is the central pillar of any functioning democracy. The day aims to increase voter turnout and encourage newly eligible voters to exercise their voting power.
