* πΉSubhas Chandra Bose * - `` Subhas Chandra Bose (January 23, 1897 - August 18, 1945) was a prominent leader of the Indian independence movement. He was called Netaji. He has twice been elected President of the Indian National Congress. He believed that Gandhiji's methods of struggle were not enough to bring India independence. He formed a political party called the All India Forward Bloc. By the end of 1941 he had established a 'Free India Center' in Berlin. The poem "Janaganamana ..." written by the great poet Tagore was first adopted as the national anthem by the Center for Independent India in Berlin. In 1991, the Government of India posthumously awarded the Bharat Ratna to Bose. But a complaint was filed in court that this should not have happened in the event that Bose's death had not been confirmed and the government subsequently withdrew the award. Observers view the incident as a ploy by the government to confirm Bose's death
