Republic Day is celebrated in India on 26 January every year.

The republic day is the admiration day for the constitution of India, as it celebrates on 26th January every year to reflect the” unity in diversity.”The day is memorable because the brave soldiers gave significant sacrifices to protect our country. Tomorrow, we are going to celebrate the 72n republic anniversary, on this day, the big ceremonial functions are arranged in universities and schools. Moreover, the prime minister of India confers tribute at India gate for sacrifices of Indian army soldiers.


In the Year 2022, India will celebrate the 74rd republic day. Specific changes have come during the covid 19; the government abridged the Parade and impressed the other safety measures to hold back the spread of coronavirus. On 26th January 1950, one of the biggest constitution assemblies came, at the same time; the rule of the British government was eradicated.

 * The Constitution of India came into force in 1950 only on 26 January.

So, 26 were chosen as a day to celebrate the republic day because the Indian independence declaration has been taken place that is stated by Indian National Congress. On this day, different celebration program arranges in colleges, offices, companies, and schools, and some motivational speeches are presented by students, staff members, teachers, principals, and guests. The constitution was made on 26th January, so we can’t disregard the sacrifice and efforts of our Heroes

* The Constitution of India was prepared in 2 years 11 months 18 days, it is the longest written constitution in the world.

 On 26 January 1950, Dr Rajendra Prasad was sworn in as the first President of India.

 * On 26 January itself, in 1930, the Indian National Congress announced Purna Swaraj from the British rule.

 * Republic Day is one of the three national holidays of India

 * A special parade is organized in the capital Delhi on 26 January.

 * Republic Day is a four-day celebration, starting with the Amar Jawan Jyoti flower offering by the Prime Minister on 26 January and culminating with the Beating Retreat on 29 January.

 * President hoists the flag on Republic Day

 The soldiers of the Army and Navy give a 21-gun salute to the soldiers martyred in the freedom struggle.

 On Republic Day, after the national anthem, other honors like Ashok Chakra, Kirti Chakra, Vir Chakra, Param Vir Chakra, Mahavir Chakra are given.

 * Opens the parade on Republic Day by saluting the winning President in military jeep

 * Separate regiments of security forces, police, home guards and NCC take out march, President accepts their salute

 * All three wings of the Indian Army take part in the parade on the Rajpath.

 * Republic Day celebrations culminate with the Beating Retreat Ceremony at Vijay Chowk on 29 January

 * On Republic Day, there is a program of flag hoisting in government, semi-government corporations and administrative offices.

 * Various programs are organized in schools and colleges and winners are awarded

 * Hindi was declared the national language on 26 January 1965.

 * Republic Day is being organized at Rajpath since 1955.

 The first Chief Guest of the Rajpath Parade was Malik Ghulam Mohammad, the Governor General of Pakistan.

 * National Bravery Award is also given for children on Republic Day since 1957.

 * Indonesia's President Sukarno was the chief guest of India's first Republic Day

 In 1961, the Chief Guest was Queen Elizabeth of Britain.

 * For the first time in 2015, a US President was the Chief Guest, Barack Obama

 The peacock was declared the national bird of India on 26 January 1963.

 * Participated in the Republic Day Parade for the first time in 2016 in a Foreign Legion (France)

 * In 2018 the heads of state of ASEAN countries are the chief guests. This was the first time that there were 10 chief guests.
