About Startup IndiaS

tartup India is a flagship initiative of the Government of India, intended to catalyse startup culture and build a strong and inclusive ecosystem for innovation and entrepreneurship in India.

What is the Startup India Initiative?

Launched on 16th January, 2016, the Startup India Initiative has rolled out several programs with the objective of supporting entrepreneurs, building a robust startup ecosystem and transforming India into a country of job creators instead of job seekers. These programs are managed by a dedicated Startup India Team, which reports to the Department for Industrial Policy and Promotion (DPIIT).

The Prime Minister also highlighted that India's startup ecosystem is "continuously discovering and improving itself."

"It is in a constant state of learning and changing," the PM added.

Today being the first ever National Startup Day, I would like to congratulate and applaud the Indian Startup ecosystem for becoming one of the fastest growing and most appreciated ecosystems globally.

Startups give back to the society way more than they take from it. Startups at every stage, time and place has different roles to play. Even if a startup doesn't raise investments or becomes a unicorn, but is able to sustain itself and generate value in terms of service, employment, or any other aspect, it must be applauded.

Startups that couldn't take-off for some reason or the other must also be appreciated because they didn't waste wealth and time (theirs or others) and took a hard decision to take another route. Must be respected.

And lastly, not just the startups, but the entire ecosystem must be applauded - the Incubators, accelerators, investors, venture capitalists, educational institutions, and others. Without them all, this ecosystem wouldn't even be close to where it stands today.

Today is the day to cherish what Startups have achieved, and a day to mark a new beginning for a lot of new ideas.

When India completes 100 years of independence, startups will have an important role. Country's innovators are making the country proud globally," the Prime Minister said during his interaction with startups across different sectors..

Startups are now an essential building block of Indian economy as they drive innovation & open up new opportunities. Celebrating National Startup Day is a great initiative by Hon PM Shri Narendra Modi that will help in acknowledging their contribution & boost Startups for New India.

Congratulations 🎉 to all new the Startups in India.

Cheers 🥂
